Our sampling of the three course menus of the various restaurants participating in Food Wook 2015 led us to Sivela 465 in the basement of the boutique hotel, Quintana 465 . This is very small restaurant, with an attractive, modern décor overlooking a beautiful fountain behind a wall of glass at the back of the dining room. The dining room is dimly lit at night but lighting at the tables is adequate from the intense overhead spotlights.

The maître d’ was closely overlooking the service, taking orders and assisting the waitress. The service was excellent throughout the entire meal but there were only about three occupied tables during the time we were there.

For the first course my companion and I shared two appetizers, a carpaccio (Peruvian tiradito) of tuna and pacific salmon in a passion fruit broth with sweet potato chips and a paté in a puff pastry dough bread cup accompanied by cured ham and sundried tomatoes. Both offerings were excellent.

For the main course we shared the grilled rib-eye on a white truffle flavored potato mash accompanied by grilled vegetables and a dark mushroom sauce and white salmon on a bed of red quinoa with grilled tomatoes in a green tea and saffron sauce. Both were brilliantly conceived and executed.

Finally for dessert, we shared a medley of Belgian chocolate desserts accompanied vanilla ice cream and an outstanding pistachio mousse with a praline tuile and crème de menthe flavored white chocolate shavings.

Two separate plates on three courses. I tasted them all. And each was both delicious and perfectly prepared.

This combination of excellent food and service made Sivela 465 one of our favorites among the many participants in the Buenos Aires Food Week 2015. But with main course dishes ranging in price from US$17 to US$21 (ARS$220 to $240) on the regular evening menu this restaurant is one of the highest priced restaurants we've reviewed.
